The Smaller Boat is a very
small agency set up by
Andrew Phillips. I use
research and planning
to find solutions to problems.
I’ve spent half of my career
working in ad agencies
(DDB and AMV) and the
other half running
a qualitative research
company (Big Island).
Whether writing a research
debrief or planning a brand
strategy I’ve learnt nothing
matters more than getting to
a beautifully simple solution.
That means unpacking the
problem until you suddenly
find something so clear and
compelling you wonder how
you didn’t think of it before.
It can take a lot of work to
arrive at a solution like that,
but once you get there
everyone knows exactly what
they need to do next and
everything else comes easily.
